Mother's Day with Imbibe founder Felicity Evans

This Mother's Day we sat down with Imbibe founder Felicity Evans, based in beautiful Byron Bay, to chat all things motherhood, her beautiful brand and the daily rituals that imbue it.

Q. Firstly, tell us a little about yourself!

Hi!  My name is Felicity, you can find me here.  I live in beautiful Byron Bay with my husband of almost 20 years (can you believe it!), 3 incredible daughters, a chocolate Labrador called Charlie Brown and of course my brand, IMBIBE.  https://imbibeliving.com/

I spend my days between home and our beautiful Byron HQ.  Here I work intensely with our team of scientists and product formulators to bring our range out to our global customers.

Q. How did the idea for Imbibe first ignite?

As cliche as it sounds, the inspiration behind launching IMBIBE stemmed from a deep desire to show up with more vitality, energy, and radiance in everyday life. Struggling with severe digestive issues, an autoimmune condition, stagnant hair growth, and persistent bloating, I felt trapped in a cycle of exhaustion and discomfort and wanted to find the energy I needed in order to keep up with my daughters and busy lifestyle. This was 10 years ago.

And from that point Beauty Renewal and Miracle Collagen were created and I’ve never looked back.

Q. What are your top 3 pieces of advice for anyone starting out in business whilst also managing the role as the beautiful mother you are?

Cliche - but don’t sweat the small stuff.  Website font, the perfect shade of burgandy for your home page, the perfect headline.  Only you and maybe one other will notice this.  Just get started and move quickly over little things that wont shift the needle - like the perfect font.  Trust me, when I look at my first website - and even from 1 year ago, I still get the momentary shivers!

Try not to bring home the work things - your kids could not care less if literally everything has gone badly for you on that particular day, all they want is for you to be present and  hear all about their exciting day; so try and leave it behind before coming home to them

There is no balance, get that out of your thinking - there is only flow.  I have breastfed in important meetings, made countless staff calls whilst out walking my 3 year old in her pram - be ok with nothing being “perfect” as you want it because there is no perfect there is only progress!

Q. How has being a mother changed you, your life and your business?

In every single way possible.  There is life Before Mother and Life After Mother.  There is a total devotion to both; my business and my babies - there is a selflessness that naturally comes with having children.  They teach me every day the importance of being a little lighter, both in the world and with myself.  To not take everything so seriously, the impermanence of it all.

Q. Do you have any rituals with your children?

Yes, so many! Dinner is always at the Dining Table, beautifully set, with candles lit.  This is the time to debrief from our busy days, eat healthy home cooked meals and chat about life.

Saturday morning is a trip to our local vintage store to find any new treasures, a trip to the library to get new books out for the week and out for coffee/matcha/miso.

Reading, always. I’ve introduced the girls to the magic of 90s TV.  We are binge watching “Felicity” at the moment and it’s so fun! campaign together).

I like to invest in quality timeless pieces, but it's also good to remember you don't always need to spend a lot of money to do so.

Q. What are your daily nonnegotiable imbibe rituals?

AM:  Beauty Renewal and Miracle Collagen.

Skincare, the entire range with a SPF over the top.

Before Sleep, our CALM/SLEEPMagnesium SuperPowder, my daily non-negotiable for the best night sleep you will ever have. Big call, but it’s true.

Q. What is on your Bali Tailor Wishlist?

1. The Jones Bag

2. Luca Slide

3. The Vahla Silk Pant

Q. What is the best piece of motherly advice you have ever received and would like to pass on?

'Bloom where you are planted' ~ my mother says this to me.
